2024 AMA
AMA emerges as my sculptural homage to motherhood, inspired by the life of my mistress born in the Etxerre farmhouse in Mutriku, among greenhouses and nature. The sculptures tell the story from the warm embrace of pregnancy to the moment of caring for our aging mothers.
I explore the different facets of being a mother, from dealing with conflict to those who, although not biological mothers, embrace the role with authentic love. I am fascinated by greenhouses, especially those with iron arches and tight-fitting plastic, which remind me of ship frames. These greenhouses become symbolic boats, like shells that keep the family afloat, navigating the course of life, highlighting the strength and persistence in caring for the family, even when the winds become turbulent.
